Vanessa Sharman premiered my solo piano piece, With Open Arms which was written for her as part of an upcomign recoridng project (more about this at a later date) at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music in Hobart, Tasmania on Saturday 9th October, at the end of my sting there as Composer-in-Residence. The work is based on this photograph from the liberation of Buchenwald Concentration Camp in World War 2.

The Southern Cross Philharmonia under the baton of Gerld Gentry premiered my string orchestra work I Saw My Lady Weep which was written way back in 1997. It's had two attempts at a premiere in that time, and both times the orchestra folded during rehearsals! Thankfully, the SCPO is made of sterner stuff and put on a very satisfying performance at Melbourne University's Melba Hall on the evening of 27th October, 2010.

Thanks to all those involved!
